No-Width Optional Break - how to?

In order to allow long words to line-break gracefully, I want to use "No-Width Optional Break" characters in my DocX-generated document. More specifically, I want paths to break after slashes when necessary.

Usually in Word I do this:
Insert > Symbol > Special Characters > No-Width Optional Break

Since this is unicode character 200C (right?), I tried inserting '\u200C' in my path strings, but the docx turns out weird (for example, "c:\tmp\a.txt" becomes "c:\\.txt").

How can I accomplish this with DocX? How does one usually handle special characters?
