Hey Dr. Coffey,
<BDM - it looks like I should have looked before I leaped - I found the answer elsewhere - thanks!>
I need to be able to take a one-page template made by my son and turn it into an N-page document, where each page has had substitutions done for one of N clients (the document will be printed for mass-mailing). I would appreciate your advice on an
approach. Here's what I was thinking, and maybe you can straighten me out:
- Suck in the template
- Somehow detect and discard start-of-document and end-of-document artifacts
- Clone the result N times
- Do replacements on one clone for each of the N clients
- Create a new document, inserting each clone with a "hard page" after it (except for the last one, obviously).
- Save the result.
Having said all that, I have no idea how the details might work. Can you give me any leads?
